Cannibal, also known as the Cannibal King, is a character within the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise. He leads the Pelegosto, a tribe of cannibals living on Pelegosto Island.
His appearance is striking, adorned with tribal markings, bones, and feathers. His primary role revolves around providing comic relief, embodying the stereotypical image of a primitive tribal leader. Initially appearing threatening, Cannibal's interactions often subvert expectations with moments of unexpected absurdity.
During the events of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Captain Jack Sparrow is captured by the Pelegosto. However, Jack quickly exploits their traditions and is temporarily crowned king by them. The Cannibal King later appears, dressed as Jack Sparrow after being replaced by him as king.
Though somewhat of a caricature, the Cannibal King and his tribe contribute to the fantastical and adventurous atmosphere of the Pirates of the Caribbean world.
